Certifications

Orange Energy Solutions employs professionals who are certified by the following organizations:

• The Building Performance Institute (BPI) operates a nationally recognized credentialing program that guarantees individual excellence in the evaluation and diagnosis of home energy issues, and assures superior skill in installation. BPI’s stringent technical standards and requirements mean that certified professionals are knowledgeable about state and utility energy efficiency incentive and weatherization assistance programs.

• The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) qualifies home energy assessors who have performed classroom and field training in home energy consumption and combustion appliance (stoves, furnaces, water heaters) inspection and repair. All RESNET-certified professionals pass a written exam and perform home energy assessments before gaining official certification.

• The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) certifies home energy assessors who have undergone 12 hours of classroom instruction, a two-hour, 50-question written exam, and field training. Certified HERS assessors are qualified to perform both home energy assessments and home energy ratings.

• The International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) works to advance ground source heat pump (GSHP) technology on local, state, national and international levels. IGSHPA certifies both installers and well drillers. Orange Energy Solutions is a IGSHPA certified installer.

 In addition, Orange Energy Solutions is accredited by, approved to do work for, or a member of:

• The Keystone Home Energy Loan Program (Keystone HELP), allows homeowners to obtain a low cost loan for ENERGY STAR® rated and high efficiency heating, air conditioning, air sealing, insulation, windows, doors, geothermal and “whole house” improvements. These lower rates can save you thousands of dollars over the life of the loan, further enhancing the energy saving from the improvements being made and minimizing out of pocket costs.  Orange Energy Solutions is a EnergyWorks Gold contractor which makes our customers eligible for the most attractive financing terms available in the Keystone HELP program.  Orange Energy's Gary Kleiman was involved in the creation of this industry leading program and works closely with AFC Financial Corporation, the program's administrator.

• The ENERGYWORKS Program is a special program available to Orange Energy Solutions customers in the five county Philadelphia region.  Most of our customers take advantage of the EnergyWorks program to reduce the cost of their assessment and for the lowest cost financing available for recommended improvements.  For more information on this program, visit our Energy Works page.

• PA Home Energy, a program focused on helping Pennsylvania consumers reduce home energy use. The program integrates the general principles of whole house performance with green home design.

• Home Peformance with ENERGY STAR, a program that certifies energy-efficient products, such as appliances, consumer electronics, heating & cooling equipment, windows, and insulation. PA Home Energy uses ENERGY STAR programs for both new home construction and improving existing homes. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

• Efficiency First, a national organization of the home performance industry. Energy First members range from energy assessors and raters to contractors, all dedicated to creating energy efficient spaces at home and at work.

 All Orange Energy Solutions employees who perform assessments and recommend corrective measures are certified BPI (Building Performance Institute) Building Analysts.  These employees have had training in BPI's rigorous house-as-a-system approach and are kept conscientiously up-to-date on certification (BPI requires Building Analysts to be re-certified every three years). BPI Building Analysts are certified to conduct blower-door tests, combustion appliance inspection and repair, air quality testing including carbon monoxide detection, duct testing and airflow testing in addition to my other contracting services.

All Orange Energy Solutions employees who perform ratings of new and existing homes are certified HERS raters, This certification allows us to conduct both home energy audits and home energy ratings. As per RESNET's standards, our HERS raters take building science classes throughout the year to ensure that their building assessments and home energy ratings utilize the latest science and technology to provide the best and most effective information available.
